Warner Takes Stand Against Redbox
Redbox has filed an antitrust lawsuit against several major motion picture agencies for failure to distribute movies to the Coinstar Inc. affiliate in a timely manner. Litigation was filed with Fox, Warner Home Video, and Universal Studios Entertainment claiming delays up to 45 days after the new release date was set.
Warner has formally stated that the claims are unfounded and issued a legal brief at near the end of October 1st, while publicly disclosing their legal proceedings the next day. Warner Home Video further contends that Redbox has actually experienced a soar in business following similar claims made against Universal Studios.
The motion picture agencies continue to fight the Redbox lawsuit, with Warner now taking front in center, explaining that movie titles will be available and only channel access will be altered.
